Kids Love Creative Education offered at IMAGES
IMAGES: A Festival of the Arts is an event that the entire family can enjoy. Stroll through the festival and explore the fine arts, enjoy the live music and performances, stop by the Creative Education tent for free art projects geared specifically for kids and view the Student Art Exhibit.
The IMAGES Live! stage presents a very special act just for kids on Saturday from 10:45 to 11:30 – the popular Mr. Richard and the Pound Hounds! This group livens up any event with sing-along tunes about fish, skunks, cool snakes and girl pilots. Mr. Richard’s original, wacky songs will have everyone dancing!
Atlantic Center for the Arts partners with Volusia County Teachers to showcase the artwork of young, emerging artists in the Student Art Exhibit, where the art of talented students from New Smyrna Beach High School, New Smyrna Beach Middle School, Coronado Beach Elementary, Sacred Heart, Read-Pattillo Elementary, Edgewater Public School, Indian River Elementary, Samsula Academy, and Burns Science & Technical Charter School is on display.
“This year’s theme for the Student Art Exhibit revolved around the State of Florida’s “Viva 500!” celebration,” said ACA Volunteer Cathy Berse. “We encouraged that the use of this theme be included in the artwork submitted by the students, such as indigenous flora and fauna or history of Florida. We’re really excited about the work being submitted!”
Atlantic Center for the Arts will also have a Creative Education Tent with fun art activities for children and their parents. Kids can participate in hands on demonstrations in woodturning and pottery, as well as take-away projects including crafts and paper hats. The popular facepainting tent will be open both days!
The Creative Education area and Student Art Exhibit are open 10 AM to 3 PM on Saturday, and 11 AM to 3 PM on Sunday. Stop and enjoy the fun!
