Children's Art Program

Children's Art Programs

Children's Art ProgramIMAGES: A Festival of the Arts is for the entire family. Stroll through the Festival and explore the arts, enjoy the varied entertainment from live music to performances, and stop by the Creative Education tent for free art projects geared specifically to kids. The Education Committee of Atlantic Center for the Arts partners with Volusia County Teachers, to create fun and meaningful experiences for budding artists. In exchange for their assistance at the Festival, IMAGES provides money and supplies for the art classrooms of the participating schools.

Sponsored by the Community Redevelopment Agency of New Smyrna Beach, this year’s projects include painting on canvas, Nature Crowns and Cuffs where children will use markers, feathers, silk flowers, leaves, and other embellishments to make a wearable crown and bracelet.

Children's Art ProgramIn addition, a project titled “For the Troops” willbe a collective effort to create a community project in support of the local men and women serving in our armed forces. IMAGES is partnering with The Daytona Beach Army Reserve/Family Readiness Group (FRG), 194th Transportation Detachment. The FRG is an organization of family members, soldiers, volunteers and other interested individuals associated with the unit.  The FRG membership includes soldiers’ families and soldiers, as well as others interested in the well-being of the soldier (e.g., friends, retirees and community members). Children will be given fabric squares to decorate with pictures and messages of support. These will be added to care packages sent by the FRG to our troops overseas.

Atlantic Center’s community art programs serve the need of the local community to promote cultural growth within the region. There are exhibition opportunities for outstanding Florida artists, as well as educational programs, including workshops for children  and adults; summer art camp for youth; internships for high school and college students; outreaches to public schools; special projects for the underserved; and partnerships with organizations county-wide.

IMAGES Artist-in-the-Classroom Program

Atlantic Center for the Arts and IMAGES artists partner throughout the year in a variety of group activities for our youth. Thanks to the commitment of the County of Volusia and several individuals, IMAGES artists spend a day in the classroom with students, or present to a group at Atlantic Center for the Arts.
